About me
I am a passionate reader and dog mum. I have always loved escaping into children's books. They offer a whole world of adventure and joy that I've never quite found in grown up books!
For many years I've talked about creating my own bookshop for children and have now taken the plunge! its a bit scary but I'm so excited to be bringing my love and passion for stories to the next generation.
I am currently a one woman outfit but am always on hand to help you find the perfect book. I can recommend books based on your interests and preferences.
Our Selection
We have a vast selection of new and used children's books ranging from classic literature to the latest bestsellers. We will stock books for all ages, from baby's first board book to books for young adults in a range of genres, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, vintage/collectable.
What makes Simian Books Different?
I want to stand out and do something different with Simian Books. I have three main aims:
1. Think about the environment
It is really important to me that the shop thinks about the environment in how it operates. This will mean everything from offsetting our carbon footprint, to removing plastic in our packaging. We will source from companies that have a strong environmental policy and will follow the three R's - Reduce waste, Reuse where possible and Recycle!
2. Ethical
Products will be sourced locally wherever possible. I want to promote local crafters and makers. Where products are sourced outside of the UK, I will always look to promote ethically made products that support local communities.
3. A Safe Space for all
Simian Books will be a space where children, young people and parents can find books that represent them. We will be diverse in what we stock, representing diverse communities, identities and backgrounds.
